TTMA and UWI-ROYTEC have renewed their MOU

The Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association (TTMA) and the University of the West Indies School of Business and Applied Studies Limited (UWI-ROYTEC) have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), reaffirming their commitment to strengthening local Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) through training, applied learning and industry collaboration.

The renewed partnership will support the L.E.A.D SME Training Suite, which seeks to bridge the gap in SME development training.

Through this initiative, TTMA and UWI-ROYTEC aim to improve the productivity, profitability and competitiveness of local SMEs by providing relevant training and practical solutions to the challenges faced by businesses. The programme will also focus on strengthening the export readiness of SMEs, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to explore regional and international markets.

As part of the renewed collaboration, TTMA will encourage participation from its membership in the training modules offered, while both organisations will work towards identifying the unique needs of SMEs and developing practical, relevant approaches to addressing them.

The partnership will also facilitate opportunities for UWI-ROYTEC students to gain valuable industry exposure through internship placements, industry-based practice and applied learning experiences with TTMA member companies. These opportunities will help bridge academic training with the realities of manufacturing and business operations in Trinidad and Tobago.

The renewal comes as UWI-ROYTEC celebrates a significant milestone in its commitment to educational excellence. The Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT) has awarded UWI-ROYTEC Continuing Institutional Accreditation for the maximum period of seven (7) years, ending 2032. This achievement reflects the institution’s ongoing commitment to quality and excellence in tertiary education.

As UWI-ROYTEC advances this journey, the institution continues to value its partnership with TTMA and looks forward to strengthening collaboration in the years ahead. The renewed MOU reinforces the shared commitment of both organisations to developing talent, building business capacity and supporting the sustainable growth of local enterprises.

Through this continued partnership, TTMA and UWI-ROYTEC seek to contribute to a stronger, more productive and globally competitive SME sector in Trinidad and Tobago.
