The Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Systems Management (BISM) prepares students with practical, industry-relevant skills for advanced careers in the field of Information Systems Management.

The programme combines advanced technical and relevant management skills to prepare graduates for mission critical and leadership roles in the IT industry. Some of the subject areas covered include network security, web development, systems architecture, big data, project management and IT governance.

This programme of study is recognised by the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT).

Entry to this programme requires completion of the Associate Science Degree in Information Systems Management (ADISM) or its equivalent

  • The BISM programme covers the final two years (years 3 and 4) of undergraduate study.
  • UWI-ROYTEC's Associate of Science Degree in Information Systems Management (ADISM) covers years 1 and 2 of undergraduate study and should be considered the entry pathway for applicants who do not possess prior higher education qualifications in Information technology.

Aims and Objectives

Upon completion of the BISM programme, graduates will be able to:

  • Apply advanced theories and practices of data communications, processing, storage and management
  • Implement robust information technology infrastructure and security
  • Demonstrate critical and analytical thinking in the context of information technology
  • Address and resolve unintended and unexpected problems when they arise and work well as a member or leader of a department or project team

Programme Structure and Completion Time

This programme is offered both on a full-time and part-time basis and is delivered through a combination of classroom lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions. The programme includes a final capstone project where students demonstrate real-world application of the knowledge and skills during study.

Following the standard programme structure, the BISM programme can be completed in two (2) years.

Combined with the completion time for the lead-up ADISM programme, a recent secondary school graduate can earn both Associate and Bachelor degree qualifications within four (4) years.

An Academic Year at UWI-ROYTEC is divided into three (3) terms.

Entry Requirements

Successful completion of UWI-ROYTEC's Associate of Science Degree in Information Systems Management (ADISM)  .

Applicants may also be considered on the basis of their work experience, training and educational background as deemed relevant by the UWI-ROYTEC Admissions Committee to be the equivalent of the above for the purpose of study and may be subject to an interview.
