UWI-ROYTEC’s Inaugural Biennial Exceptional Teaching Awards was held on Saturday 6th March, 2021.
UWI-ROYTEC’s Exceptional Teaching Awards celebrates exceptional teachers who have made an outstanding contribution to teaching and learning at UWI-ROYTEC. The institution acknowledges that exceptional teaching extends beyond the formal classrooms and includes significant teacher preparation, reflection and contributions to building a community of scholarship. UWI-ROYTEC faculty are encouraged to be reflective practitioners who deliver the curriculum through a variety of teaching strategies that meet the needs of our diverse student population. They are exposed to best practices in the teaching and learning relevant to higher education and support and promote a culture of excellence and enhance student learning at UWI-ROYTEC.
The Exceptional Teaching Awards will be held biennially and will present an opportunity for UWI-ROYTEC to identify and recognise faculty members, who demonstrate exceptional teaching, through consistently positive feedback from students and subject heads, use of sound teaching strategies and the adoption of a teaching philosophy that is student-centred and aligned with UWI-ROYTEC's Mission, Vision and Core Values.
UWI-ROYTEC takes great pride in the quality of our faculty and the exceptional efforts made, to ensure that students have the best opportunity to develop the skills for success, in the ever changing world of work. Driven by dedication and expertise, our faculty strive to deliver a quality teaching and learning experience through innovation and a student centered approach to online learning. With a clear appreciation of the dimensions of effective teaching, and the complex nature of assessing teacher performance, the Exceptional Teaching Awards seeks to recognise those lecturers who stand out as exceptional.
