Admissions Procedure

Applicants may obtain information and/or application forms from the Marketing Department, 136-138 Henry Street, Port of Spain and Naparima College, San Fernando.

An application form must be completed and forwarded with the following:
  • An application fee of $100.00 TTD  (non-refundable) and
  • The original and copy of the relevant academic Certificates.
  • The original and copy of the marriage certificate (if relevant) should be attached.
  • Two (2) passport size photographs must be attached.
Applicants may also be required to attend an interview to determine eligibility to enter a programme.

Non-degree Applicants

Non-degree applicants are persons who wish to take selected courses in a degree programme without the intent of completing an entire programme of study. These students must complete an application form and pay the relevant fees.

Exemptions and Transfer Credits

Applicants seeking exemptions or the transfer of academic credits (from another institution to ROYTEC) must do so at the time of applying for the programme and supply all supporting transcripts/certification on the course/s successfully completed. The information provided will be evaluated and applicants will be advised of exemptions. Applicants must notify the Admissions Officer of their intent to accept the exemption/s offered. An exemption fee for each course must be paid as indicated on the Schedule of Fees. Transfer credits will be recorded as “TR” on students’ transcripts.

North American Applicants

Applicants from North America or using North American-based High School Curriculum, must have their qualifications evaluated by the Ministry of Education in Trinidad and Tobago. The Ministry of Education will confirm the equivalency of High School Diplomas and other academic credits with ROYTEC’s entry requirements.

Applicants from Non-English Speaking Countries

ROYTEC courses are taught in the English Language. Applicants from non-English speaking countries must submit The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score or alternative test. The TOEFL is usually administered several times each year at different centres. Students should take the TOEFL early enough to ensure that the official test score report is received at least sixty (60) days before the beginning of the term.

Re-Admission

  1. Students who have been absent for a period of three (3) consecutive Academic Terms will be required to seek re-admission.

  2. A student who is readmitted after being withdrawn from ROYTEC will automatically be on academic probation. Failure to meet the normal academic requirements at the next assessment will result in  immediate dismissal from the programme.

Application Fraud and Misconduct

Students who fail to provide required information or misrepresent any data on the application form will be required to withdraw from ROYTEC.
